A growing law firm was seeking to hire a full-time Accountant to manage critical financial tasks such as trust accounting, client billing, accounts payable (A/P), and accounts receivable (A/R). However, they faced a significant challenge: many candidates claimed to possess the necessary skills, but the firm had no effective way to quickly verify their practical accounting abilities.
The traditional process failed to reveal whether candidates could manage complex legal accounting tasks. The firm needed a solution to efficiently assess true accounting competency in a short timeframe.
We developed a custom skills assessment tailored to the specific accounting challenges the law firm faced. This assessment mimicked real-world tasks, including trust account reconciliation, IOLTA compliance, and legal matter billing. Candidates were asked to solve accounting problems in a proctored environment.
To further streamline the hiring process, the results were displayed on an easy-to-read dashboard, which made it simple for the firm to quickly assess and compare candidates, allowing them to make a data-driven hiring decision based on actual accounting capabilities.
Within 72 hours, we conducted the skills assessment for 30+ candidates. The law firm received a comprehensive dashboard that provided a detailed view of each candidate’s skills. Metrics were standardized and easily comparable, allowing the firm to quickly assess and compare candidates, helping them make data-driven decisions about which candidates to interview based on demonstrated accounting skills.
